Job Title: Addictions Counsellor – Project CHOICES
Position Type: Part-Time (18.5 hours/week, 1-year contract)
Location: Multiple sites and community locations
Hourly Wage: $24.00-28.00

Oshki-Giizhig Inc. is proud to partner with Project CHOICES, a program designed to reduce the risk of alcohol-exposed pregnancies (AEP) through harm reduction, trauma-informed care.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Addictions Counsellor with a strong background in Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed practice to deliver Project CHOICES. The successful candidate will work with male-identifying and non-binary youth and adults in various settings, including community sites and external partner locations.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Deliver Project CHOICES programming using a harm reduction and person-centered lens

·       Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage participants in open, supportive conversations

·       Provide trauma-informed support tailored to the unique needs of participants

·       Travel to multiple sites and partner organizations to facilitate sessions

·       Build rapport and collaborate with external collaterals and service providers

·       Participate in team meetings and ongoing training related to addictions and trauma-informed practice

Qualifications:

·       Post-secondary education in Addictions Counselling, Social Work, Indigenous Studies, , Psychology, or related field

·       Certification or formal training in Motivational Interviewing is strongly preferred

·       Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (travel required)

·       Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check (or willingness to obtain)

Contract Details:

·       Part-time position: 18.5 hours per week

·       1-year contract, with possibility of extension based on funding and program needs

·       Flexible schedule required for outreach and travel to various locations
