Director of Services (Permanent, Full-time)
Description: Oshki-Giizhig Inc. is an Indigenous-based non-profit organization. Our vision is a healthy community built on Indigenous journeys towards wellness. Our mission is to walk beside, advocate, and support people affected by FASD and or other disorders. Strengthened by cultural practices and traditional teachings, support will assist in restoring balance to individuals and the community affected by trauma and violence. Oshki-Giizhig is committed to supporting the development of strong and healthy communities. Desired Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of Indigenous concepts of care and support.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, social justice, Indigenous studies, health related and/or a combination of pertinent experiences in these area), A master’s degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of management experience, in a non-profit organization.
- Solid knowledge of disabilities, developmental disorders, and mental health issues.
- Strong leadership skills, including experience in decision-making, team coordination, and conflict resolution.
- Proven ability to deliver person-centred services addressing physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of the organization’s three core service programs—Wiigiwaam Housing Supports, Walking Stick Community Supports, and Beaver lodge Day Services—ensuring alignment with Oshki-Giizhig’s mission and holistic approach to wellness.
- Ensure programs promote physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual wellness through culturally grounded, participant-centered supports.
- Supervise and support program staff, fostering a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and collaborative work environment.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to program managers and staff, fostering a culturally safe, trauma-informed, and collaborative working environment.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with Indigenous communities, Elders, service providers, and allies to enhance service delivery and advocacy efforts.
- Integrate Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and healing practices into service planning and delivery.
- Track program effectiveness, prepare reports for funders and the Board, and support ongoing evaluation and improvement as directed by the strategic plan.
- Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and initiatives that strengthen community wellness.
- Represent the organization externally and advocate for the rights and needs of individuals living with FASD or other disorders, particularly those affected by trauma and violence.
- Report to the Executive Director and provide regular updates and reports to the Board of Directors as required.

- Build and maintain strong partnerships with Indigenous communities and coalitions, service providers, funders, and allies.
- Lead the development of new programs and initiatives rooted in Indigenous knowledge, and person centered disability-conscious care, and trauma-informed practice.
- Design, guide, and support new projects that align with the organization’s holistic model of care and strategic plan.
- Create sustainable, financially viable phased models of initiative for both fundraising and implementation purposes.
- Ensure meaningful community engagement representing Oshki-Giizhig to promote systemic change, and support advocacy.
- Support grant writing, funding proposals, and community-driven resource planning to strengthen program sustainability.
- Ensure that all initiatives are led by community needs with particular attention to those impacted by trauma, violence, and marginalization.
- Consult with participants, knowledge keepers, and other community members for the input on the design of programming and implantation of new initiatives.
- Report to the Executive Director and provide regular updates and reports to the Board of Directors as required.

Beaver Lodge – Support Mentor (Permanent, Full-time)

Qualifications: Post-secondary education in social work, social justice, Indigenous studies, health related and/or a combination of pertinent experiences in these areas. Experiences with cultural activities and understanding of indigenous concepts of care and support. Experience leading a team in a dynamic fast-paced environment. Knowledge of disabilities, disorders and mental health issues. Experience in crisis intervention. Driver’s License and access to transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate daily activities grounded in the Medicine Wheel, including traditional teachings, ceremonies, crafts, and land-based learning.
- Provide support in life skills such as budgeting, reading, emotional regulation, and healthy relationships.
- Assist with meal planning, cooking, physical wellness and mental health activities.
- Prepare and organize materials and supplies for day programming.
- Work closely with the Cultural and Day Services Manager to ensure programming meets participant needs.
- Maintain communication with the Walking Stick/Housing programs to coordinate and support participant needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned, to support program success.
Other Helpful Qualifications: NVCI, First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Knowledge of Vulnerable Persons Act, FASD Training
Additional Requirements: Criminal Record Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, Access to a reliable vehicle.
